The American Church, regardless of denomination, has seen social and cultural changes in the way they worship, preach and engage those they have been called to serve. Technology now is employed in various scales throughout the sunday morning services, along with the incorporation of individual talents being merged together to create more entertaining, informative and powerful presentations of the biblical truths. The pulpit has shown polarizing diversity in gender, sexual orientation and the definition of “truth.” Accountability has gone from an individual preventative measure to corporate damage control. Some changes seem inert, while others challenge the very fabric of the gospel themselves. But regardless of which side of the isle you find yourself seated, great strides have been made in the way America fellowships in the house of God.
But with all the change that has been taken on by the church, it seems only minor steps have been taken forward in the realm of missions.
-
✦What would happen if the local church increased how they spiritually supported the missionaries to equal the amount of financial support they give?
-
✦What would happen if the distance between missionaries and pastors was closed enough to allow not only support, but accountability, stability and personal growth.
-
✦What would happen if the gap between congregations and missionaries was broken down allowing congregations to become a more vital part of the quest to reach the lost.
-
✦What would happen if technology, talent and the church were combined to change the way those on the mission’s field performed their daily services?
I hope we can find out...
